VDF Hydrocyclone Separators

The VDF hydrocyclone separator offers a media-free solution to removing finely-sized suspended solid contaminants from liquids. Removes Aluminum, Copper, Bronze, Brass, Steel, Iron, and more.

Clients using Nikuni's VDF cyclonic separators have enjoyed numerous HIGHLIGHTS:
And the ensuing BENEFITS:

PRECISE FILTRATION PERFORMANCE

Filter over 99% of particles 25 µm, 95% of particles 10 µm, and 90% of particles 5 µm in size. Dramatically improve cutting precision and production quality by reducing scratching, as well as increase tool life, and safeguard machining equipment. TOP

FILTER FERROUS AND NON-FERROUS MATERIAL

Unlike magnetic separators, Nikuni’s VDF separators filter both magnetic and non-magnetic particles, particularly ideal for grinding applications. One device for ferrous and non-ferrous material including: Aluminum, Copper, Bronze, Brass, Steel, Iron, and more. TOP

SIMPLE DISPOSAL

Use the Sludge Pod to concentrate the sludge waste, filtering the fluid in the most efficient method for disposal, saving energy, running costs, and reducing the temperature rise associated with unnecessary recirculation. Minimal liquid to sludge ratio results in a smaller dirty sludge tank design and easy transfer to the next waste stage. For more information please read this PDF report on the Sludge Pod verses conventional methods. TOP

DURABLE STAINLESS STEEL

Nikuni’s cyclone separator units are made of stainless steel, eliminating rusting and optimizing durability for a wide range of applications including solvents. TOP

NO FOAMING

Air bubbles do not become trapped as found in conventional cyclonic separators. Eliminate messy foaming, spillovers, and pumping issues associated with air bubbles. TOP

WIDE RANGE OF SIZES AND SOLUTIONS

A vast lineup of hydrocyclone separator sizes and styles insures a solution that perfectly fits production requirements for many common applications. Eliminate the cost and energy inefficiencies of using multiple (extra units and piping) or oversized (larger pumps, wasted power, higher temperatures) units. No need to adapt or resize original pumps in retrofits. Single unit sizes range between 3 to 80 US gpm. Click on Hydrocyclone Selection Information for further details. TOP

COMPACT DESIGN WITH SIMPLE INSTALLATION

Cyclone units are compact and can easily be integrated with current systems or into future designs. Reduce dirty sludge tank size by utilizing the concentrating power of the Sludge Pod. For unit dimensions please refer to this VDF Hydrocyclone dimensional drawings PDF file. TOP

MEDIA FREE FILTRATION

Nikuni’s cyclonic filtration solutions do not require filter replacements and may be run non-stop for continuous hassle-free production. Prolong the lifetime or eliminate completely paper and cartridge filtration to achieve environmental sustainability goals AND improve your business’ bottom line through ongoing cost savings. TOP

REDUCE RUNNING COSTS

The VDF hydrocyclone provides huge cost savings through:

  • Longer coolant and fluid life
  • Longer cutting tool life
  • Reducing scratches and production failure rate
  • Reducing the frequency of scheduled tank maintenance
  • Minimizing other maintenance and downtime
  • Better allocate skilled staff to high priority tasks
  • Eliminate or prolong the life of paper and cartridge filtration
  • Eliminate expensive pump, rotary joints, and system repairs   TOP

REDUCED COOLANT RANCIDITY & FOULING

Coolant and fluid is aerated through the cyclone’s vortex, not only prolonging the lifetime of coolants but also reducing the frequency of required tank cleaning. For further rancidity & fouling prevention please refer to Nikuni’s EVERLAST Anti-bacterial equipment, used as complementary to the VDF or as a standalone solution. TOP

HOW IT WORKS
Contaminated fluid is pumped into the VDF separator unit creating centrifugal forces that push solid contaminants into the cyclone's walls. Gravity then forces the heavier "dirty solid" particles downwards, while the lighter fluid enters a vortex in the center pulling it upwards and exiting as "clean fluid".

SLUDGE POD
Maximize separation efficiency with the optional Sludge Pod:
  • No liquid loss during regular operation
  • Minimal liquid during purging
  • Automatic or manual purge
  • Maintains continuous operation
